3-28-10 The Rules of Engagement

The Rules of Engagement

No matter who we are…or what we do for a living…all of us are bound to face struggles in life.

Financial pressures, job loss, personality conflicts, time demands, illness, emotional pain, or even death.

When faced with setbacks like these…people often tend to blame God for their circumstances…

Or other people…or even themselves.

Many times when we pray…
Our prayers are sabotaged or counter attacked by the enemy (evil spirits).

We could be fervently praying…but not effectively…

Because we could be praying amiss.

We could be praying from an incorrect perspective and position.

Satan is able to gain the upper-hand in our warfare…

Because we ignorantly pray “earthbound” prayers.

Jesus told us…that we needed to fight our battles…
And wage warfare where it really belonged,

In The Heaven Lies!

Matt.16:18-19:

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

The bible…urges us to consider that there is a sinister source…for our troubles…

What the Apostle Paul called the ruler, authorities and higher powers in heavenly places.

Our struggle is not against God…or other people but against “spiritual forces of evil”.

Paul tells us…that people are not our enemy…but it is sin and Satan himself.

Paul warns us that…there is evil. It’s out there. It will attack you. Be ready. Arm yourself.

Don’t ever imagine…that you will have special immunity from it.

Some people think…that Satan doesn’t even exist.

But maybe this story can help them.

Once there was a boxer who was being badly beaten. Battered and hurting…he leaned over the ropes and said to his trainer…Throw in the towel!

This guy is killing me!

The trainer said… Oh, no, he’s not. He’s not even hitting you.

He hasn’t laid a glove on you!

At that point the boxer wiped the blood away from his eye and said…

Well…then…I wish you would watch that referee.
Because somebody is surely hitting me!

We all fight spiritual battles…and we might well ask…who is the enemy?

It’s not the nonbeliever…

Although occasionally you will meet a person so full of evil and rebellion against God…

That he or she actually declares themselves the enemy of God’s Kingdom.

The secular media or world systems…work endlessly to undermine God’s truth…

But they are not the enemy either…even though they are often…tools in the enemies hands.

Our enemy is Satan and the spiritual forces of evil.

Satan is called the deceiver (Genesis 3)…the accuser in (Zechariah 3)…and the destroyer in (1 Peter 5)…

And he is the enemy of our souls…and of the souls of our friends and loved ones.

As Paul sounded this battle call…he wanted us to know whom we’re fighting.
We are not in an earthly military campaign-our battle is not against enemies of blood and flesh.

Instead…we battle the demons over which Satan has control.

Satan’s work is to tempt people to sin.

According to Daniel Schaefer in this book called Dancing with a Shadow…

The Eskimos devised a way of killing wolves. They planted a knife in the ice with the handle buried.

Then they put chunks of fresh meat on the blade and let it freeze.

The wolves would smell the blood from afar…and come to lick it.

As they licked the frozen meat…they worked themselves into frenzy.

Soon they cut their tongues on the razor-sharp blade and began feeding their hunger with their own blood.

They would lick…until they slowly bled to death.

This is Satan’s favorite way to tempt and destroy people.

Satan does not fight fair…his plan always include subtle tricks and schemes.

When we fail to recognize the danger of Satan’s luring temptation…

And allow ourselves to become obsessed with it …we are in danger of self-destruction.

In the life of every believer…we battle against Satan.

We face a powerful army…whose goal is to defeat the enemies…

And they try every device to turn us away from Him and back to sin.

Every believer fines themselves subject to Satan’s attacks…because they are no longer on Satan’s side.

We need to be fully prepared for battle…desiring the whole armor of God.

There are many things we need… to arm ourselves with…

To “be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm”.

That verse tells us that we win not by slaying the enemy.

This is not a battle in which we attack.

We win just by standing firm and holding our own ground.

One night while this missionary John Paton was in the New Hebrides Island…

His mission station was surrounded by hostile natives.

They were intent on killing the Patons and burning the mission station.

Paton and his wife prayed through the night in hopes that God would deliver them.

When daylight came the natives left.

A year later when the chief converted to Christ, Paton asked him why they did not attack.

The chief was surprised by Paton’s question. He asked, “Who were all those men with you?”

Although Paton knew of no other men…the chief said he was afraid to attack…

Because he had seen hundreds of big men in shining garments who circled the mission station with their swords ready.

Listen church…God’s fight and victory is real whether or not we see it.

There was this movie I once seen…

Where this good guy is showing off his karate moves to the enemy…

While the enemy just stares at him without any expression.

Then…after a pause…the enemy takes out a gun and shoots him.

Listen church… Satan is the bad guy…

And we need to wear the full armor of God…in order to shield ourselves from his deadly shot.

It is not enough…if we try to fight Satan only by our own strength.

All believers need supernatural power to defeat Satan…

And God has provided this power by giving us his Holy Spirit within us and his armor surrounding us.

Paul gives us a powerful strategy for standing firm against our spiritual enemies:

“Put on the whole armor of God”.

God’s armor is made up entirely of spiritual weapons:

Ephesians 6:11-18

A Fight to the Finish

“And that about wraps it up. God is strong, and he wants you strong.
So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the Devil throws your way. This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the Devil and all his angels. Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.
Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words.
Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life.
God’s Word is an indispensable weapon.
In the same way…prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare.
Pray hard and long.
Pray for your brothers and sisters.
Keep your eyes open.
Keep each other’s spirits up…so that no one falls behind or drops out.

Luke 10:19-20

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you ; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

3-14-10 Spirit of Fear

Spirit of Fear

There are 15 identified major “Evil Spirits”…
That we all should be aware of…

That is creating havoc in this world and our lives.

Paul warns…that we should put on the whole armor of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (Eph.6:11)

Peter tells us…be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about seeking whom he devour. (1 Pet. 5:8-9)

James gives good advice saying…resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

Job 3:25
“For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me”.

Spirit of Fear
How many of you in here today…believe that everyone knows…what it’s like…to be afraid.

We all have things that we are afraid of…

Such as storms, spiders, snakes, bats and some people are terrified of snakes.

There are also hidden fears…that can motivate us.

Fear of failure…makes us afraid to do anything that could draw criticism…

Or give someone a chance…to laugh at us.

I could go on and on…talking about fears.

But today…I want you to know…that there are two kinds of fear…

Fear that is good…This fear keeps us from driving 100 mph…or things like sticking our hand in fire…and then there’s

Fear that is harmful…this is the “spirit of fear” that I want to expose today.

This is the kind of fear… that paralyzes us…and keeps us from doing things we could or should do.

Perhaps there is a fear… that some of you here today…may need to overcome.
Let’s pray…

How many of you ever stop to think…that…

Fear had its beginning with Adam’s rebellion and fall…in the Garden of Eden.

After Adam and Eve had disobeyed God’s directive to them…fear entered their hearts.

Gen.3:10-“And Adam said, I heard Thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I am naked; and I hid myself.”

So since the beginning of time…the “spirit of fear” has been running rampant on this earth.

Jesus even prophesized…that in the last days of time…

That this world would become a race… of fearful people.

Luke 21:26 (NASB)-“men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

How many here know…that the leading cause of death… is heart disease.

People are suffering from strain and stress.

Alcohol consumption…drug abuse and anxiety attacks is increasing…contributor…

Because it constricts the vessels carrying blood to affected areas.
Cigarette smoking is also a major cause… but why do people smoke?

Often, because they are uptight, nervous and afraid!

Fear is “the enemy” among us…and it is taking a tremendous toll;

Psychologically, economically, domestically and physically!

As well as politically…both nationally and worldwide!

Fear destroys relationships, hinders growth in business, and impedes academic progress…

Breaks up families and keeps people out of church!

Fear is often the cause of strife, worry, bitterness, resentment, jealousy and hatred…

But fear can be conquered and driven out of our lives!

Many years ago…Presidents Herbert Hoover stated:

“The dominant emotion everywhere in the world is FEAR.
This applies to every part of human activities-finance, industry, farmers, workers, thinkers and government officials.”

The Atlantic Charter…

A document drawn up by President Roosevelt and Britain’s Sir Winston Churchill…

Is one of history’s greatest documents, championing the common liberties of mankind.

It is called: Freedom From Fear!

It contained 4 critical freedoms:

Freedom from Want, Freedom from Fear, Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Religion!

God has not given us the “spirit of fear”…

But He has given us three things that will help us overcome fear:

The gift of Power… The Gift of Love… and the Gift of a Sound Mind.

Power to be saved:

(John1:12)But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Love:

The more we love God, the less fear we will have. It is a matter of trust.

When we realize that God will take care of us, it relieves our fear.

My kids don’t worry about having something to eat.
For all these years we have provide for them…they would be worried.

But they know I love them and will provide for them…so they are not afraid about that.

Then there’s a Sound Mind:

Most of the time…our harmful fears are the result of wrong thinking.

But something happens…when we are saved and begin to trust God.
Our mind is renewed!

(Rom12:2)-“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”.

2/24/10 Understanding Altar Call

The altar call too easily confuses the physical act of "coming forward" (walking an aisle) with the spiritual act of "coming to Christ" (repentance and belief).

People are urged to come forward as if that coming forward is the critical element in being converted.

But what's required for salvation isn't walking an aisle. It's repentance from sin and belief in Jesus Christ (Mark 1:15). Initial repentance and belief-conversion- can happen anywhere, in the pew or in the pub.

"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel". Mark 1:15

The Altar call encourages people to base their assurance on a one-time event. The aisle walked or prayer prayed becomes a false stone of remembrance they look back on to assure themselves despite their lack of growth or blatantly sinful lifestyle.

Yet the Bible tells us to base our assurance not on a prayer prayed or an aisle walked in the increasingly distant past. It tells us to look at our present and increasing love for others (1John 4:8,20), the present and increasing holiness of our lifestyles (Matt 7:15-27; Heb 12:14; 1John 3:7-8), and the present and increasing belief of our doctrine (gal 1:6-9; 2Tim 4:3 1John 4:2-3;15)

This confusion brings false converts with false assurance into the church's membership.
This is terrible individually because the person thinks he is saved but is not. And it is terrible corporately because these false believers are welcomed as members, compromise the purity of the corporate witness of the local church in the community.

The church is God's evangelism program (John 13:34-35). Welcoming unconverted members by the use of confusing evangelism methods is to give the camp over to the enemy, making evangelism that much harder.

The altar call makes conversion look like a work of man, when in fact it is a work of God.

Repentance and belief are gracious gifts that God bestows supernaturally, not praiseworthy works that men perform by walking an aisle or praying a prayer.

Eph 2:8-9,"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves;it is the gift of God".

The altar call confuses people regarding sacred space. It makes the front of the church look like the only place to really "do business" with God.

But a biblical theology of sacred space disallows such notions. The inside of a church building is no more sacred than any other place now that Jesus has risen and sent His Spirit into our hearts.

Whereas God's presence used to be representatively localized in the the tabernacle or temple in the Old Covenant, the new covenant brings God's presence into every believer's heart. Our bodies are the temples of the Holy Spirit, not our church buildings (1Cor 3:16-17;18-20; see esp. 2Cor 6:16).

The altar call confuses "coming forward" with baptism. It mistakes " coming forward" as the initial public profession of faith God Requires.

According to the Bible, baptism is the initial way in which we identify ourselves publicly with the people of God (Matt 28:18-20; Rom 6:1-6).

The altar call distracts Christians from the main point of the service.

The main weekly gathering of the church is intended for the edification of believers (1Cor 14:3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 17, 26).

But the effect of the altar call is often to encourage Christians to apply the message to unbelievers, not themselves.

Instead of examining their own hearts, the altar call often leaves Christians examining the hearts of others- and coming out feeling better than they should about their own.

But does our silence to extend altar calls imply that our evangelistic zeal has run dry? No.

We should always be inviting unbelievers to a relationship with Christ, whether on Sunday morning at church or on Saturday afternoon in the neighborhood.

Let's not limit our evangelistic invitations to Sundays at noon!

But we must be careful how we invite them so that both our message and the required response are clear.

When inviting people to a relationship with Christ in the context of a church gathering, we must first be careful to present the gospel clearly-God, man, Christ, response.

God is our holy Creator and righteous Judge. All people have sinned against him, both in Adam as our corporate representative, and in our own lives individually.

That sin deserves eternal death-separation from God in Hell.

But God sent Jesus Christ to die the death we deserved for our sin and reconcile us to Him.

And He requires that we repent of our sins-turn away from them-and believe in Jesus Christ's divine righteousness and substitutionary sacrifice.

When we do-and only then-God credits us with Christ's righteousness, and begins to bring our character into conformity with His holiness.

Once we've presented the gospel clearly, we need to make sure that no other response can be confused with the proper response of true, persevering repentance and belief.

Repentance and belief is the only saving response-whether or not an aisle is walked or a prayer is prayed.

2/17/10 The Devil Doors

In order for any of us to have a victorious life ... and operate in God's Kingdom ... that He gave to us to "dominate"...

We must learn to focus our God given ... spiritual vision ... locate our enemy ... bind him ... and claim back our territory.

God's Word ... commands ... that we come to understand ... and move onto the battlefield of our minds...

and begin to reclaim all the mental powers ... that the devil have stolen from us.

Let's understand this fact ... it is the plan of the devil ... to stop every believer in Jesus ...

from moving out in the 'power" and "victory' He has given us.

So we must become knowledgeable of Satan's tactics

strategies ... and his characteristics to become what each of us truly desire in Christ.

Well folks ... just want to let you know today ... that it is my intent ... to lead you starting now ...

into the devil's territory ... to invade his stronghold

so we can begin to take back the spoil ... that is rightfully ours.

Are you ready?

Let's Pray (a protection prayer for our hears and hearts)

Demons ... Comes Through Open Doors ... by legal rights!

The Apostle Paul tells us ... that we are the determining factor in whether the devil can operate in our life or not.

Ephesians 4:27 (amplified version) - "Leave no room or foothold for the devil ...give no opportunity to him".

When we allow openings in our spiritual life ...

the devil feels he has the right to take advantage of us in those specific territories.

If we keep the doors closed ... he can't do what he would like to do.

The Bible introduces us to the "open door" principle in Genesis 4:7 ... when God was talking with Cain:

"If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the DOOR".

God told Cain ... that Satan was crouched at his doorway ... waiting to leap into his life.

Cain had a choice ... and he chose to open the "DOOR" ... Satan led him to murder his brother Abel.

Sin is progressive ... it grows from something small.

One thing always lead to another ... until we find ourselves in big trouble.

And it is for this reason ... that we must learn to close"doors" ... and keep them closed ...

before they develop into something harmful.

What Are the Devil's Doors?

Lineage
(Ancestry, family tree heredity)

Exodus 20:4-5
"No carved gods of any size, shape, or form of anything whatever, whether of things that fly or walk or swim. Don't bow down to them and don't serve them because I am God, your God, and I'm a most jealous God, punishing the children for any sins their parents pass on to them to the third, and yes, even to the fourth generation of those who hate me".

Crisis

An emotional or physical crisis ... can leave "DOORS" open ... that we must go back and close ... so that the enemy will not continue to hassle us in that part of our life.

(Psalm 40:12)- "For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me".

(Psalm 25:17)- "The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish".

Ignorance

The Apostle Paul warns us many times in the epistles ... "Not to be Ignorant" concerning the Word of God.

Romans 10:3- "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God".

2Corinthians 2:11 - "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices".

I Will Begin Today... to Shut the Door!

James 4:7-10 (The Message)

"So let God work his will in you. Yell aloud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he'll be there in no time.

Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over.

Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it's the only way you'll get on your feet".

8/13/08 - Faith

Faith

Today…I really…want to talk about one word…THAT WORD IS FAITH!

We are living in times…where many of us…are facing issues…that only God can solve.

We have tried earthly solutions…and they have not BEEN THE ANSWER.

Somebody shout…Lord…Give us the Answer!

There are some elementary…or basic things… that we need to make rock solid in our lives…

if we plan to spend the rest of our days…IN A MORE IMPROVED STATE.

Is there anybody in here…looking for better days!
Listen…the Bibles tells us that GOD IS A SPIRIT…

AND THOSE THAT WORSHIP HIM…MUST DO IT IN THE SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH!

When the Apostle John mentioned here…in the spirit and in truth….

He was referring…to your FAITH!

You have to begin to believe…that you can talk to GOD from the inside… (your spirit person)

and talk with Him from the honesty of your heart! (the truth of who you are…and what you’re thinking)

For the only way you can approach the throne room of God…and Worship…is by FAITH!

Repeat after me…Without FAITH…it is impossible…to please God…

For he that cometh to God…must believe that God is…

And that He is a rewarder of them…that diligently seek Him.

Listen…after a period of time as the disciples walked with Jesus…

and they heard his teaching and saw His FAITH in action …

as people were being healed…and delivered.

They asked Jesus…if He would increase there FAITH.

Luke 17:5-6 - “And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. [6] And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you”.

These disciples…had come to understand…that nothing would work for them…

unless they had FAITH!

They had also came to understand…that hearing Jesus speak…

was building up there belief system.

Rom. 10:17 - “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”.

Heb 11:1-3 - “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

[2] For by it the elders obtained a good report.

[3] Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Faith requires you to do something…it requires action…it requires you to step out of the box.

James 2:17 - “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone”.

Faith is a tool…given by God to all of us…

that we might overcome all the things…that the world throws at us.

1 John 5:4 - “ For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith”.

8/06/08 - Appraising the Battlefield…for Open Doors

Appraising the Battlefield…for Open Doors

How many of you know…

that God has commanded us…to move onto the battlefields of our minds…that we…

should reclaim…all the mental powers…that the Devil has stolen from us!

God knows if we are to be successful…we must begin to recognize those battlefield in our minds…

that we may overcome all the power of darkness in our thought life.

God is wanting us to locate the TRUE enemy… focus our spiritual vision on him…

bind him… and claim back what is ours…and what has been promise as ours!

Let’s pray…

As a child of God…we must first understand that our Heavenly Father is GOOD.

That His chief motivation in our life…is to make us the best person…we can possibly be.

Everything He does as He deals with us…in our walk with Him…

is to develop our potential…to the greatest degree possible.

On the other hand…Satan is totally evil.

Jesus describes to us…Satan’s job description… in John 10:10...when He says…

“The thief cometh not…but for to steal…and to kill…and to destroy”.
To better understand who God is…let’s look at his attributes or characteristics…

that has been revealed in the Bible:

God is:

Spirit

Holy - He has never been touched by sin

Eternal - He has always existed

Infinite - without limits except when He has limited Himself by His Word

Omnipresent - everywhere at once

Omniscient - all knowing

Omnipotent - all mighty

Truth - He never…ever lie

Just - 100% fair in His actions with us

Righteous - totally good

Life - He isn’t just alive…He is LIFE
Unchangeable - James 1:17 - “ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”.

Sovereign - absolute supreme ruler

Love - He is the most loving personality in the universe

Faithful - absolutely trustworthy

Merciful - beyond human comprehension

Provident - watches over and cares for His creation

God’s attributes…never…get out of balance with each other…He never acts out of character!

It is for this reason…that we are able to trust and have confidence’s in God concerning our lives.

He will ALWAYS…do what is best for us!

Now…what about the enemy…let’s look at what the Bible reveals about his character:
The Devil is:

A liar

A murderer

A sower of discord

An adversary

Cunning

Wicked

Malignant - totally evil

Cowardly

A tempter

A thief

Without principles

Proud

Deceitful

Fierce and cruel

Aggressive

Destroyer

Now…some of the works of the devil…that we need to be very aware of…are:

sin, sickness, fear, death, depression, murder, temptation, deception, lust and rebellion.

But I want you know…that God informs us in John 3:8:

“For this purpose…the Son of God…was manifested…that He might DESRTOY THE WORKS of the devil”.

It is through the “Name of Jesus”…that we are able to appraise battlefields…and gain victories.

It is therefore very very important…that each of us…become experts…in recognizing…

Who is doing What…in our lives…To be able to react correctly….according to the Word of God.
Now take a moment…close your eyes…begin to think of things that aren’t right in your life…

I mean really focus in on those things that hurts you…

those things that are robbing you of a true peace of mind…

Family situations that aren’t right…job issues that are under your skin….

Pain and discomfort that comes against your body…

Financial scenarios…that are causing havoc in your planning…

These things are real…it is these things…that we must assess and appraise.

It is these things…that are becoming battlefields in our spirit.

There are doors there…these are doors…that are letting pain…and misery enter our lives.

Come on…come on…they must be identified and located.

We must know where these entrances are…that we might begin to shut the DOOR!

The Apostle Paul…tells us…that WE are the determining factor…

in whether the devil can operate in our life or not.

Eph. 4:27 - “ Neither give place to the devil”.

The Amplified Bible says it this way… “Leave no room or foothold for the devil…give no opportunity to him”.
When we allow opening in our spiritual life…

the devil feels he has the right to take advantage of us in those specific territories.

If we keep the doors closed…he can’t do what he would like to do.

The Bible first introduces us…to the “Open Door” principle…in Genesis when God said to Cain.

Gen. 4:7 - “If thou doest well…shalt thou not be accepted?…and if thou doest not well…sin lieth at the door”.

God told Cain…that Satan was crouched at his doorway…waiting to leap into his life.

Cain had the choice…and because he chose to open the door to jealousy….

The devil led him into the murder of his brother.

Look at your neighbor…and say…sin is progressive!

One things leads to another…until we find ourselves in big trouble.

It is for that reason…we all must learn to close those doors…

and keep them closed before they develop into something harmful.

These open doors …has a heritage…they either come from lineage…crisis…or just plan ignorance’s.

Eph. 6:10-13 - Ҧ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

James 4:7 - “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee

Bible Study 07/13/08 - Faith Comes From God

Faith Comes From God

Today…I’m believing that God has sent us a Word…to Help Build our Faith.

How many…need there Faith…built up?

There’s a portion in each of you…called inner faith…that comes from God.

It is called… “the measure of faith”…

and every person…is given this amount according to Rom 12:3.

This measure is an amount…whereby every person is without excuse…for not believing in God.

This God-given faith…is the initial starting amount… that everyone possessed at one time.

A person can go on to develop this faith…

by studying the Bible to build his faith as promised in scripture…

or a person can throw away his initial measure of faith.

God has allowed each us…to make our own choice.

But one thing for sure…He has given us a free gift… a gift…that cost a man His life…a gift called Faith.

And because of God’s grace…and this gift of faith… we are able…to be saved.

Eph. 2:8

True faith…comes from God…and it is faith…that brought you to church today.

There was a point in God’s plan at onetime… where faith…was not originally meant for you and I.
It was meant only for the Jewish people. God’s chosen ones.

But because of the sacrifice that Jesus made for us… we were included.

I want you to know…that FAITH…is really a big deal!

Acts 14:27 (read this verse):

When this door was open…a couple of important things…initially came through that door.

Repeat after me…

#1 - The Gospel News of Jesus…..and…

#2 - by hearing…and believing…I’m able to receive
the promise.

Why do we need to hear the Word of God?
We need to hear…how others were tested by faith…

and overcame there issues…trails…obstacles… barriers…and mountains.

Read heroes of faith - book of Hebrews Chpt. 11:
